To the anon with the PoC main character; one of the things you should do (besides try and ask people who are more qualified to make sure you don't use unfortunate stereotypes) but you should make sure not to use food items to describe skin color. Things like "chocolate" or "coffee" or things like that. It sounds like you're fetishising the person's skin color.
